Slow Girls Hiking Club began in May 2023 as four friends in Squamish, BC. Since then, we’ve expanded to dozens of volunteers, and 10,000+ Slow Pokes around the world.

We do extreme sports, slowly. In fact, we’re only as fast as our slowest member. Our club is a great way to meet supportive friends, try something new, and enjoy nature.

Are your hike leaders trained guides?

No. Hike leaders are local volunteers with no official training. We do hikes of all levels from beginner to advanced, and it is very important that you do your own research and assess your ability before attending a hike. You are responsible for showing up prepared and for your own safety on the trail.

Is there a hike happening in my neighborhood?

The best way to keep up with hikes that are happening in your area is to sign up for our email list or follow us on TikTok. If there are no hikes coming up near you, you can always register to be a volunteer with SGH and organize a hike!

Can my dog come?

If the trail allows dogs then heck yes! We ask that all dogs remain on leash for the comfort of fellow hikers.

I’m a man/non-binary, can I attend?

Yes, you’re welcome to attend! The only requirement is that you’re a slow hiker.

Can I come alone?

The majority of our hikers show up by themselves! These meetups are a great way to meet new friends with similar interests in your area.
